April is National Minority Health Month

Did you know April is National Minority Health Month? This designation highlights the importance of improving health and healthcare access across racial and ethnic minority communities.

Why is this necessary? Unfortunately, studies show that non-white Texans struggle to afford healthcare at greater rates and have worse health outcomes. In minority communities, this contributes to everything from lower life expectancy to lost job productivity and economic instability.

This month we’ll be raising awareness about health issues facing minority communities and how we can work together as neighbors to reduce health disparities in our state.
